The California Department of Insurance requires licensed agents to complete continuing education every two-year license term. Here's what you need to know.
Property, casualty, life, and accident & health agents must complete 24 CE credit hours every two-year license term, including 3 hours of ethics training.
At least 3 of your 24 required hours must cover ethics and the California Insurance Code. Our ethics courses satisfy this requirement in full.
Limited Lines Automobile Insurance Agents must complete 20 CE hours per two-year term, including 3 hours of ethics training.
Additional training is required for Long-Term Care (8 hours), annuity suitability (4-8 hours), and homeowners' insurance valuation (3 hours, one time).
The CDI recommends finishing CE at least 60 days before your license expiration to allow time for providers to submit rosters and the CDI to update your records.
